Main Street Connect Expands, Names Board

MainStreetConnectLogo.jpgMain Street Connect is rapidly becoming a developed neighborhood, as the national community news company followed up its April announcement of the launch of Connecticut hyper-local news site The Daily Norwalk with the beta-launches of three similar sites in the state and the appointment of its board of directors.

Norwalk was joined in the Main Street Connect stable by The Daily Westport, The Daily Fairfield, and The Daily Darien, with all three new towns located in The Constitution State’s Fairfield County.

And the company’s board of directors is made up of:
• Chairman: Peter Georgescu, chairman emeritus, Young & Rubicam
• Director and editorial director: Jane Bryant Quinn
• Directors: Stephen I. Sadove, Saks CEO; Haresh Tharani, Tharanco Group principal and chairman; and Main Street Connect CEO, editor and publisher Carll Tucker

Tucker said:

We are excited to have such qualified and respected members of the adverting, journalism, retail, and business communities join Main Street Connect as charter members of our board of directors. Each member brings valuable insight and expertise that they will share with our team as we continue to expand and roll out hyper-local news Web sites across the country.
