McDonald’s is Giving Out eBooks to Kids

antMcDonald’s is going to start giving out books as Happy Meal prizes and surprisingly enough, the books are focused on themes of nutrition an active play. The toys are part of the fast food’s marketing push to appease criticisms that their advertising pushes unhealthy foods to kids and appear to be focused on healthier meal choices.

The fast food chain teamed up with DK Publishing to produce the new books which will be available in print in Happy Meals beginning in November. The Goat Who Ate Everything and Doddi the Dodo Goes to Orlando will be the first in a series of four books.

eBook editions are already available as a free downloads on a McDonald’s website. Here is more from GigaOM: “The ebooks can be downloaded from HappyMeal.com and from the McPlay kids’ app (yes, McDonald’s has a kids’ app). The first ebook, DK’s World’s Greatest Cities, is available for download now as a PDF.”
