Watch: Microsoft Resorts to 90s Nostalgia to Sell Internet Explorer

Children of the 90s—remember Lunchables and Norfin Trolls?  How about bowl cuts, Lisa Frank and Hungry Hungry Hippos?  Those things were awesome, weren’t they?  But do you remember which web browser we were using back in the day when we were wearing Yin-Yang necklaces and Oregon Trailing it up?  Internet Explorer, of course!  And Microsoft is hoping that a little 90s flashback will entice you to reconnect with Internet Explorer in 2013.

This week Microsoft released a YouTube video called ‘Child of the 90s’ as part of their Browser You Loved To Hate campaign. Microsoft doesn’t deny the fact that Explorer took a bit of a nose dive over the past decade or so, but they’re saying, “It’s good now…no, really.”  And they’re hoping that children of the 90s (and everyone else) will give them a second chance.

Microsoft fully understands that Internet explorer is “the browser you loved to hate” but say that “some people are trying the new Internet Explorer and actually liking it.  Not that they would say that out loud.”  But is reminiscing about 90s nostalgia enough to get you to try it out?

Check out the video below and let us know what you think.  Are you ready to reconnect with Internet Explorer?
