Microsoft Facebook/Twitter Posts: Zune Services/Features Not Going Away

Microsoft generally chooses its words for press releases and announcements carefully. But, there was a bit of confusion when reports emerged that Microsoft was going to do away with the Zune brand. Neowin.net, however, reported a clarification Microsoft’s Zune group posted to Facebook.

Microsoft says Zune services are not being killed

The post said We’re not ‘killing’ any of the Zune services/features in any way. The Zune Twitter account, in a response to a follower, tweeted this: @Spiral_Infinity No is correct! We’re not going anywhere. Ignore the rumors! This does not, of course, rule out the possibility that the Zune hardware will disappear. Despite the Zune’s (hardware) disappointing sales, it would be a shame if Microsoft gave up on its answer to Apple’s successful iPod touch. There is a market for people who do not need 3G connectivity or want a monthly recurring cost for voice and/or data.
