Microsoft walks to the beat of multiple drummers. I wonder if the Windows Mobile group even saw this one coming:
…is a mobile application framework for feature phones (NOT smartphones) that fits in 150KB (that’s kilobytes, not megabytes or gigabytes) of memory and designed for emerging markets (not the U.S.). The app is small because the product also has server-side components. Like Palm’s webOS, OneApp apps are developed using web development tools such as Javascript and XML.
OneApp runs on a number of phones from Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson. Here’s what I found amusing though. On one hand Microsoft said that OneApp is designed for feature phones (dumb phones). But, Microsoft’s list of supported phones includes decidely non-dumb phones like the Nokia E71 and N95. I wonder if this is Microsoft’s way of taking a dig at Nokia, Samsung, and Sony-Ericsson?
