Refresh Mobile’s Mippin mobile content portal has launched a new video function that delivers video clips from RSS feeds to mobile users worldwide.
The company teamed with Blueapple.mobi, a free service that lets users play any Web-based video on a mobile phone without having to download an application, on a new service that will “convert and distribute Flash-based RSS video content” from any feed, 3G.co.uk reports. The two will transcode the video on the fly into a mobile standard for real-time viewing on a handset. Because of this, the article says, even some video that was never before viewable on a mobile device will be available through Mippin if it’s included in a feed.
“Mippin prides itself in delivering perfectly formatted content for almost any device, so it’s great to offer pictures, text and now video in such high quality,” Refresh Mobile co-founder and VP of technology Robin Jewsbury said in the article. “We’re also thrilled to offer Mippin users a new way to discover video on mobile.”
