General Wireless has launched MobiDrop, a sideloading application that’s supposed to make it easier to get content from a PC onto a mobile phone. According to Mobile Entertainment, you just need to drag the files into a MobiDrop window on the PC, type in who you want to send them to and the recipients get an SMS message with a link to the stuff they can then download.
For now, General Wireless is offering the app to mobile operators and other service providers in Europe. A direct-to-consumer version is expected sometime in Q2. No word on when or if it will launch MobiDrop in the US.
