According to consumer research from mobile community Limbo and market analysis firm GfK Technology, mobile advertising awareness grew 33 percent in the first nine months of 2008 even though mobile phone usage grew just six percent, FierceMobileContent reports. Here are some more numbers from the article:
- Almost 40 percent of American mobile subscribers—about 104 million U.S. consumers—recall seeing mobile ads between July and September 2008;
- 60 million consumers recalled text-based ads, which is a 42 percent increase in nine months, while 31 million subscribers recalled mobile web ads.
The report said that this represents the first time mobile ad awareness passed the 100 million customer benchmark in a given quarter.
