reports that the West Coast burger joint teamed with Bay Area Rapid Transit and Sprint in the experiment that lets consumers use Near Field Communication-equipped phones to pay their trolley fare and fast-food bill.

The trial used NFC and over-the-air card provisioning technology from VivoTech. They could also wave the phone at “smart” advertisements to download Sprint content or directions to the closest Jack in the Box.
