I’ve been very happy with Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix on my Acer Aspire One netbook. But, I have to admit that after watching the Moblin demo video above, I am interested in trying out the Intel/Novell Moblin 2.0 beta alternative Linux distribution for netbooks. I downloaded the 666MB IMG file and am hoping to carve out some time this weekend to test it either in a virtual machine or in test drive mode on one of my netbooks.

The Moblin live image can be booted directly from a CD or USB flash drive. So, I won’t have to install it over an existing operating system.

If Microsoft prices Windows 7 too high and inflates netbook prices, it may give Linux another shot at the netbook market. Ubuntu Netbook Remix and Moblin look like interesting netbook platforms.
