This week’s broadcast of ESPN’s Monday Night Football enjoyed the biggest audience in the history of cable television, and as FierceMobileContent reports, fan interest is also increasing on mobile devices.
The Dallas Cowboys’ 41-37 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles scored a 13.3 rating, drawing 18.6 million viewers, ESPN reports. More significantly, ESPN’s Monday Night Surround digital effort “generated more than 8.6 million visits via the web and mobile—the network reports close to 86 million page views from Monday through Tuesday at noon, with more than 2.6 million views of NFL-related video on ESPN.com and 2.4 million views of SportsCenter Right Now.”
The report said that during the past seven days, fans also downloaded over 614,000 ESPN football-themed podcasts. Mobile ESPN has plenty of tie-ins on cell phones lately, notably with Verizon’s V CAST service, after failing as a separate, dedicated wireless carrier.
