How Content Creators Are Making Money On YouTube [Infographic]

These days more and more content creators are making a living from YouTube.  However, making the big bucks on the video site doesn’t happen over night—YouTube offers the opportunity, but creators have to put in the legwork if they want to succeed.  To find out how this is done, FanBridge asked YouTube channel owners how they manage and promote their videos, to rack up views and, in turn, ad revenue.

This FanBridge infographic, takes a look at where and how successful content creators are promoting their videos, as well as how many hours are spent promoting their videos each week and how they believe YouTube can be more helpful when it comes to growing and retaining an audience and making money.

According to the infographic, 46 percent of respondents spent less than an hour a week promoting their channels, 18 percent spent from 1 to 3 hours, 21 percent spent from 3 to 8 hours, 6 percent spent 8 to 15 hours, and 9 percent spent more than 14.  FanBridge reports that 20 percent of the respondents were making a full-time living from YouTube activities.  I’d put money on the assumption that most of these full-time YouTubers are in the upper part of the spectrum when it comes to spending time on promotions.

Among the most popular places to promote were Facebook, with 85 percent of respondents promoting there, Twitter at 70 percent, personal websites at 53 percent, and Google+ at 45 percent.
