MSNBC.com is ringing up the iPhone and getting in touch with the iPod Touch, teaming up with Zumobi on the launch of an application for the Apple devices that delivers breaking news, videos, photos, blogs and Twitter streams.

The application is available free-of-charge from the Apple App Store, and consumer-electronics giant Best Buy signed on as the flagship advertiser for the launch.

The Twitter integration enables consumers to easily share articles and track Twitter feeds from NBC News and MSNBC anchors, the network said.

Zumobi applications for NBC’s Today and MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show are also available via the Apple App Store.

MSNBC.com president Charlie Tillinghast said in a release:

We’ve expanded our mobile platform to reach millions of “news explorers” who get their news on an iPhone or iPod Touch. These consumers will enjoy the innovative design and interactive features that allow them to watch video, read stories, catch up on blogs or follow us on Twitter—everything the site offers, right from the app. For advertisers, we’ve created a rich environment for premium brand sponsorships, something far more engaging than banner ads.
