MSNBC Launches Rachel Maddow HD iPad App

Rachel Maddow is really moving up in the world: In addition to her own television show on MSNBC, she now has an iPad app to call her very own.

The free Rachel Maddow HD app allows users to join the “Watch Party” and read real-time Tweets from Maddow, guests, fans, and other Twitter users including the #maddow hashtag, as well as offering one-touch access to The Maddow Blog, and an archive of the past 20 installments of The Rachel Maddow Show.

MSNBC said it will extend the app to other programs.

MSNBC president Phil Griffin said:

The launch of Rachel’s app couldn’t come at a better time to give our audience what it wants. Anytime, anywhere, our viewers will be able to get a dose of Rachel’s insight, intellect, and perspective. We know MSNBC has a passionate audience and we live in an active, nonstop, constant world. This is only the start for MSNBC, and we’re excited to roll out a whole digital plan this year with no boundaries.

MSNBC Digital Network deputy editor Randy Stearns added:

Viewers can’t get enough of MSNBC. They want to be a part of the conversation, and they are connecting with their favorite shows online and on mobile devices in record numbers. The new iPad app gives them a unique platform to interact with a show, as they’re watching it, for a truly immersive viewing experience.
