At CES, the music companies are owning up to the fact that they now see the future in digital, but are looking at the mobile space for the high-growth opportunities; the online music market, at this point, is saturated, so the record labels are looking to the mobile medium as the place to go for increasing their music revenues.

Executives point to Nokia’s Comes With Music service as an example of a success, while Nokia points out that for a company of their size, creating a new, novel application/distribution for an existing form of media is a possibility, as they have the leverage to create make a deal.

Atlantic records released information showing that they had about an even split between digital and physical music sales last year, with about 13% of total digital sales on mobile. 69% went to download, and 18% to subscription services.
