For those who are still using RSS feed reader Bloglines, you might be interested to know that a native iPhone application is already available at the iTunes Apps Store. myBloglines is a native iPhone application developed by a third-party and is not in any way related to Ask.com which happens to own Bloglines. While myBloglines for the iPhone is a good app, it is not without any quirks and shortcomings.
For one, although not really a flaw, the application is not free. You have to shell out $1.99 to run it on your iPhone. In addition, although the application has effectively ported the web version of Bloglines to the iPhone, some important features were not successfully imported to the iPhone platform.
Other missing features of the iPhone version of Bloglines include the following:
- no multiple reading of news articles or feeds at once
- individual items cannot be marked read/or not read
- and the application would cost you $1.99
There’s no doubt that myBloglines for you iPhone is a good and promising application. I really wonder why Ask.com has not taken advantage of the popularity of the iPhone and developed the application themselves. But thanks to the third party developers at leasy we have an iPhone application of Bloglines. Hopefully, in time more features will be introduced and developed to make the application compete with other iPhone RSS feed applications.
