As if getting laid off isn’t bad enough, imagine getting a voicemail from your former employer asking you not to cash your final check due to a calculation error and telling you that a stop payment is in effect. Many people who were recently laid off by VoidCheck.jpgMySpace don’t have to imagine.

According to TechCrunch, MySpace parent Fox Interactive Media erred in calculating how much its laid off employees should receive, so its next steps were voice mails and stop payments.

Former MySpace employees have also told TechCrunch that their last day was “chaotic and poorly planned,” and that FIM “hasn’t been very tactful” during the process. Among the company’s judgment errors, TechCrunch reported, was referring to recently laid-off employees as “fat” during meetings with the remaining staff.
