Myxer, whose free, ad-supported mobile content runs the gamut from mix-your-own ringtones to videos and games, has acquired “specific IP and domain name assets” from flailing mobile content provider 3Guppies. Back in December 3Guppies lost the support of its major investor and was left to twist in the wind.
3Guppies, which, interestingly enough went by the name Mixxer until adopting the 3Guppies moniker last June, focused on ringtones and mobile social networking applications. Folks attempting to visit the 3Guppies Web site will now be redirected to a special introductory page on Myxer, where they’ll have access to Myxer’s vast catalog of free content from 15,000 providers as well as the old 3Guppies stuff.
Myxer hasn’t said what it plans to do with the new assets.
