Myxer Tops 5 Million Users

Maybe there is something to this free mobile content stuff. Myxer, an ad-supported mobile content portal that lets users create their own ringtones if they can’t find what they’re looking for, has passed the five-million-user mark. It hit one million users back in April and is adding an average 800,000 new users per month who do more than just browse the site. Myxer claims some 12 million content downloads a month, which breaks down to roughly five downloads per second, the company says.

The site boasts 300,000+ free ringtones, wallpapers and videos from more than 13,000 content providers. You can check out the service by texting “83607″ to 69937 (MYXER), which will get a free ringtone of Uncle Kracker’s version of “Drift Away.”

Myxer has also branched out with a UK office and a new Web site, www.myxer.co.uk, featuring UK-specific content.
