The chief executive of NBC Universal on Wednesday said piracy of copyright movies, music and other goods is “getting worse, not better” and urged the Justice Department to step up enforcement, according to a CNNMoney.com report.
“We need … to move intellectual property enforcement up the agenda of the federal government,” Jeff Zucker said in the report in remarks to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which held its annual summit on counterfeiting and piracy this week.
NBC’s call for a hard line on piracy takes on increased importance, now that NBC is beginning to distribute its shows online more often–particularly its limited free download offer for shows like 30 Rock and The Office from its Web site, CNNMoney.com said in the article.
