NBC Sports and 4mm Games have officially gone to the dogs, announcing the development of Dog Show Friends, a social game based on The National Dog Show Presented by Purina, which will be hosted on Facebook and other platforms.
Nestle Purina PetCare is the presenting sponsor of Dog Show Friends, a virtual community that lets users adopt, nurture, and train puppies, while interacting with other puppies and their owners, with rewards for responsible ownership.
The two-hour NBC special, hosted by the Kennel Club of Philadelphia, will air immediately following the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Actor John O’Hurley, who hosts NBC’s coverage of The National Dog Show, will also serve as host of the game.
NBC Sports Digital Media senior vice president and managing director Kevin Monaghan said:
NBC and our partners at Purina are excited to work with 4mm Games to create a social game that will appeal to our National Dog Show audience. The game will allow our community of viewers to continue the National Dog Show experience long after “Best in Show” has been awarded.
4mm Games chief creative officer Jamie King added:
NBC’s National Dog Show is the perfect inspiration for a massive social game. The audience is the largest in its category. Dogs and their owners are very interconnected and thrive on the social aspects of dog ownership. It’s the perfect fit for “Constantly Connected Gaming.”
And Nestle Purina PetCare VP of digital marketing Chris Padgett said:
Through our Petcentric online programs and mobile applications, we know pet lovers enjoy playing social games and spending time on the Web. We’re excited to work with NBC Sports and 4mm Games to bring the experience of the National Dog Show to our consumers in a social game.
