NCAA March Madness: The Social Media Final Four [Infographic]

As the Final Four teams in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament compete for a spot in the championship game, their fellow students, alumni, and fans are cheering them on via Twitter.

Can the amount of social media buzz influence the outcome of the game? Not necessarily, but Twitter does amplify the overall conversation surrounding the tournament. March Madness reaches more than 678 million Twitter users, which is twice the population of the United States.

So far, the Louisville Cardinals’s fans are dominating the conversation with 31.6 percent of the mentions, according to an analysis by Radian6. The Michigan Wolverines are close behind at 30.6 percent, followed by Syracuse Orange and Wichita State Shockers, who are tied at 18.9 percent of the mentions.

Prime Visibility compiled these and other stats into an infographic. Take a look.
