Cable network Tennis Channel tapped the expertise of NeuLion to launch online video portal Tennis Channel TV on its Website.
Tennis Channel TV debuted May 24, during the network’s coverage of the French Open. With the Wimbledon Championships currently under way, the portal will offer video-on-demand, interviews, highlights and other primetime coverage.
The video player offers viewing of up to five courts simultaneously, live games, archived matches from earlier in the tournament, highlights, interviews, live chat with fellow fans and a search feature.
NeuLion’s technology supports advertising insertions, and the two companies said pre-roll ads help to monetize the Website.
“Our Web video activity during the French Open was the highest in network history, with the video player driving 30% of our traffic and more than 2 million streams, and viewers averaging 17 minutes of video time,” Tennis Channel senior vice president of marketing Robyn Miller said in a release. “We’re excited to partner with [NeuLion] for other competitions.”
