If you want to get a better idea about who is trying to trick you in the latest political commercial, Super PAC App can help. This app, which was just released in iTunes, uses the iPhone’s mike to listen to and identify political advertisements.

Here’s more from the website: “With the Super PAC App, viewers can find out with ease. While watching a political TV ad, a user can hold up her phone to identify the commercial and receive objective, third-party information. The Super PAC App allows the user to rate the ad, while understanding who and how much money is behind the ad, what claims the ad is making, and whether those claims are based on facts.”

The app will also let you view ads airing in other states. It was created by Jennifer Hollett and Dan Siegel as a class project at MIT’s Media Lab.  “The goal is to get regular people using this app — not just journalists and policy wonks, but regular people using it because it’s informative and fun to use,” Hollett told Mashable. “It’s easy to forget the presidential election is about regular people. We’re hoping our app changes that.”
