socialtoo_logo.pngStart-up SocialToo, which makes tools for “social networking power users” to manage their accounts, has unveiled a new Facebook application that allows users to post updates to their Facebook wall, any Facebook Fan Page they manage, or Twitter.

TechCrunch’s Leena Rao offers some perspective:

This feature is particularly interesting after Facebook just released a feature that will allow Facebook Page owners to syndicate their updates from Facebook to Twitter — something that users have been asking for for ages. At the moment, it’s unclear whether Facebook will be extending this feature to Facebook Profiles.

While we wait for that drama to play out, let’s turn to the Featured Survey on SocialToo’s home page: “Poll: How Did You Find Out that Michael Jackson Died?” The poll offers eight options:

Word of Mouth
Mainstream Media Offline
Mainstream Media Online
Twitter
FriendFeed
Pop/Hollywood/Music Blog
Technology Blog
Other

With more than 500 votes so far, Twitter stands as the No. 1 source of news about Michael’s demise, cited by 40.4 percent of respondents. Even if you consider that SocialToo’s users by definition are active on Twitter, that’s a remarkable number, especially given that the No. 2 source (15 percent) at the moment is Word of Mouth. The real-time web is upon us.
