New York Daily News, Harper’s Magazine Launch iPad Apps

Brad Wellen at sister blog FishbowlNY reported on two new additions to the iPad app family: the New York Daily News and Harper’s Magazine.

The New York Daily News joined fellow Big Apple newspapers The New York Times, New York Post, and Newsday in the iTunes Store, and FishbowlNY reported that its app costs $1.99 for the first month or $11.99 for the entire year.

Daily News CEO Bill Holiber said:

To address the needs of our readers who already love the experience of the Daily News print edition, we’ve combined the flexibility of a live app with the feel of the printed newspaper to bring a compelling experience. As the voice of the most connected city in the world, we now have the most timely, accessible and user-friendly vehicle for sharing that voice.

As for Harper’s Magazine, its iPad app is available via Zinio at 12 issues for $16.97, and vice president of circulation Shawn Green said:

We are proud to bring the legacy of Harper’s Magazine to the iPad, expanding the reach of the magazine to a global audience and those who prefer electronic formats.
