DavidClowney.jpgNew York Jets wide receiver David Clowney was inactive for this past Sunday’s National Football League contest against the Tennessee Titans, but he wasn’t injured. So why would Jets head coach Rex Ryan go into a game without the club’s fastest receiver?

Clowney became the latest athlete to join the Twitter casualty list. His crime, according to the New York Post: Less than one hour after the team’s victory over the New England Patriots the previous Sunday, he tweeted, “1 play in the 1st Half, 4 plays in the 2nd half…A bit disappointed about my playing time but very happy and satisfied about the win.”

In Clowney’s defense, the Post pointed out that his next two tweets were, “Just time to work harder for next week,” and, “My team always comes first so I’m just keep grinding…And we gonna keep winning.”

Ryan told the Post:

I’m not a big Twitter guy, but you hear different things. To me, it’s about your team. No individual is bigger than the team. So if I feel a guy is not putting the team first, then I’ll make the decision to put the guy down.
