The New York Times won two awards last night at the first ever Global Media Awards held as part of the International CES. The Times won Outstanding Short Format Entertainment for “Life in Transition,” an NYTimes.com video about a homeless Bronx man, who probably has schizophrenia as well a drug addiction. It has been described as “one of the most compelling, informative, and illuminating documentaries on chronic homelessness.”
NYTimes.com also won Outstanding Informational Long Form story for “Choking on Growth” about pollution in China.
“The digital revolution of media has forged a bond between creative talent and leaders in technology who are pioneering the frontiers of a new age in communications,” said David Wertheimer, Vice-Chairman of the Global Media Awards.
The awards were presented by NATAS and the CEA. Other winners include the BBC, ABC and Scripps Networks. The complete list of winners is here.
