A New York woman is so angry at Apple for lopping $200 off the price of the iPhone that she’s filed a lawsuit seeking $1 million in damages, according to an Associated Press report.
“Dongmei Li of Queens, N.Y., claimed the company violated price discrimination laws when it slashed the price of the 8-gigabyte iPhone by a third, from $599 to $399, within two months of the gadget’s June debut.”
Steve Jobs later apologized for the price cut, offered $200 refunds to anyone who bought the 8GB iPhone in the prior 14 day period, and gave $100 store credits to everyone else who bought the same model. 4GB iPhone buyers like Li were left in the lurch, having paid $499 for a device that was discontinued shortly thereafter. Her suit alleges that 4GB iPhone buyers were treated with less favorable terms than 8GB iPhone buyers as a result of the price cut, the report said.
