YouTube is working with television and cell phone manufacturers to bring YouTube videos to television screens. The company today announced a “send to TV” icon that connects mobile devices to television sets like a remote control.
The new tool will debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas next week.
Bang & Olufsen, LG, Panasonic, and Sony will be the first manufacturers to make it available, the company said. Devices from Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Toshiba, Vizio, Western Digital, and others are next in line.
Previously, viewers relied on game consoles like the Wii or the Xbox 360, and other digital services like Apple TV, in order to watch YouTube videos on their television sets.
