MocoNews is reporting that News Corp’s News International UK news publisher has decided to merge its mobile and digital units, following the departure of Andrew Bagguley, the UK head of mobile strategy. The report called Bagguley’s resignation a further casualty of the corporate-level reorganization following Boston Consulting Group’s recent review.
News International’s properties, including The Sun, have recently “developed some attractive mobile content offerings, like 24-7 Football live score updates and QR codes as well as [regular] mobile websites,” as the article said, but it’s doubtful any of them will be cut as a result of the move.
