Newt Gingrich Is Also on Pinterest

President Obama is not the only social-savvy candidate in the 2012 presidential elections. In his race to the primaries, Republican candidate Newt Gingrich has also stopped by Pinterest to delight his supporters with campaign tour photos, artsy Instagram shots, and cover art from his books.

His most creative board is the one titled #250gas, which refers to Gingrich’s plan to reduce gas prices to $2.50. The pinned images show the candidate pumping gas at various stations across the country or riding his tour bus.

As of the time of this post, Gingrich only has 49 followers and four likes on his page, but it’s a start. The unofficial images posted by other Pinterest users are a mixed bag of criticism as well as praise, a lot of campaign gear for sale, and more than one bizarre caricature of the candidate.

The other Republican candidates: Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney, and Ron Paul, do not appear to be on Pinterest yet, at least not in an official capacity.

Could any of these candidates turn pins into votes? It’s hard to tell. But the pictures taken from the road and posted on Pinterest make for a beautiful timeline of an exciting race.
