NewYu Connected Fitness Montior Syncs with Android Via Bluetooth

I’ve been using a Fitbit activity tracker since May 2010. And, while I’ve found value in using it, I often wish there was a way to check activity information directly on a smartphone. The Fitbit comes with a proprietary wireless transceiver that get data from the Fitbit, transfers the data over a USB cable to a PC or Mac which then uploads the data to Fitbit’s servers.

The NewYu fitness tracker is able to get activity information similar to the Fitbit. It not only counts your steps as a pedometer does, it also estimates the level of activity when walking or simply moving around in general. Like the Fitbit, NewYu data can be sent to a PC via a USB cable. This data is then sent to NewYu’s servers. However, unlike the Fitbit, the NewYu can sync data in real-time with an Android phone using Bluetooth. This feature differentiates it from the Fitbit in a way that will appeal, I believe, to data junkies who want to be able to check on their progress while on the go.
