NHLLogo.jpgThe National Hockey League is out of the social-networking penalty box, as it is set to launch an official Facebook page that will offer scores, updates, virtual gifts, videos, analysis and the opportunity for fans to give each other “face washes,” Online Media Daily reported.

On the back end, analytics monitors will measure clicks and time spent on the page, as well as when videos begin and end and how long they run, according to Online Media Daily.

The league’s @NHL Twitter account has nearly 78,000 followers, Online Media Daily added.

NHL director of social media marketing and strategy Michael DiLorenzo told Online Media Daily:

You can also give friends a two-minute penalty. If my friend blows me off for dinner some night, I can send him a two-minute penalty. The idea is to make it more fun to be an NHL fan.
