Nick Ascheim to Drive Digital Media at BBC Worldwide Americas

BBC Worldwide Americas signaled that a serious online push is under way, adding former Associated Press general manager of digital and NYTimes.com vice president of product management Nick Ascheim as senior VP, digital media.

Ascheim will be charged with driving growth across all digital platforms, including the Web, mobile, and emerging technologies. He will also oversee the North American edition of BBC.com.

Prior to The New York Times, Ascheim worked with ABC News and Fox News.

Ascheim will report to BBC Worldwide Americas chief operating officer Ann Sarnoff, who said:

Nick has a fantastic track record as an innovative thinker and highly effective digital executive. He’s joining us at an exciting time as we move to propel our digital businesses forward and will no doubt prove to be a valuable asset to the team.

Ascheim added:

The BBC’s brand and content are second to none. Joining the effort to grow their digital businesses at such a key moment in the news and entertainment industry promises to be a rare and thrilling chapter of my career.
