Hi ThinkMobile readers - all the great mobile apps, devices and reviews are now a part of mediabistro's SocialTimes.com. Thanks for reading!

Have you ever felt it would be politically correct to show sympathy for someone’s unfortunate turn of events but couldn’t bring yourself to do so? That’s how I felt after reading James Kendrick’s news for Android users…

No Further Android Updates for G1; No “Sense” for MyTouch 3G?

As a long suffering Windows Mobile fan (I can’t help it :-) , all I can say to Android phone users is: Welcome to my world! Windows Mobile device owners have long known that there is never any promise that their shiny new PDA or phone will be able to be upgraded to the next version of Windows Mobile. Those of you with phones running Windows 6.0 or 6.1 will probably never have an official upgrade path to 6.5. And, you definitely will not see Windows Mobile 7 on your current device.

Brighthand contradicts this jkOnTheRun’s bad news by reporting…

T-Mobile Promises To Keep Updating the G1

The Brighthand article adds that Android 2.0 fits on the G1 units used by developers. However, just because a beta release is seen running on an old device doesn’t mean that device will see an upgrade for it from an official source.

Apple users shouldn’t feel special, BTW. Apple has provided OS updates for every hardware generation so far. But, my guess is that the 2010 upgrade will leave the 1st generation iPhone in the dust. And, the iPhone 3G may be left behind as well.
