Nokia Shows Off Their First Windows Phones

Earlier this year Nokia and Microsoft announced a partnership through which Nokia would be develop and sell phones running Windows Phone. The partnership is seen as important to increasing Windows Phone market share as well as Nokia’s smartphone market share. In June we began to see leaks of the first Nokia Windows Phone with a code name of Sea Ray and this week we finally have seen first two Nokia Windows Phones, the Nokia Lumia 710 and the Lumia 800.

The Lumia 800 is the high-end version that looks similar to the N9 and has a 3.7-inch AMOLED display and an 8 megapixel camera with the ability to record 720p HD video. You will be able to buy the Lumia 800 in a variety of different colors. The Lumia 710 will also sport multiple colors with replacable back covers, but it does not have an AMOLED display, and has a slower processor and less storage than the Lumia 800.

The Nokia Windows Phones include Nokia’s Drive navigation app, which stands out from other smartphone navigation apps by providing offline maps that eliminate the dependancy on a continuous Internet connection. Nokia Music is a free music service that enables streaming and offline music playback and integrates with Mix Radio. Finally, the Nokia Windows Phones will include the ESPN Sports Hub that includes highlights, news, scores, and team information.

Unfortunately, will not see these phones in the United States this year. The Lumia 800 will be available first in the United Kingdom, where is expected to be available on Vodafone, Orange, and 3 UK in November. The phones will not be available in the United States until early 2012.
