Burlington, Mass.-based Nuance, the speech recognition software firm, is spending $180 million to acquire SNAPin Software, a Seattle-area developer of mobile customer-care applications, according to RCR Wireless News.
It’s a good fit; SNAPin develops technology that lets mobile users take care of customer-service functions via embedded software, which would go perfectly with Nuance’s speech recognition-based CRM services.
Nuance has been quite busy lately. The report reviewed how the company bought competitor VoiceSignal last year in a $300 million deal, not to mention BeVocal for $140 million and an in-progress, unsolicited bid for Zi Corp. for $40 million.
