The New York Times’ NYTimes app for the iPhone was one of the first news apps that emerged last summer. Unfortunately, I had problems with that release and the various updates that followed. Problems included frequent app crashes, sections that never updated and freezing my system requiring a soft reset. However, as a die-hard news junkie, I kept trying each new release in the hopes that one of the U.S.’s premiere newspapers of record would finally have a decent iPhone app to offer. It looks like this latest update finally delivers the goods. The what’s new description for…
…says: This update introduces increased performance and stability, visual improvements, and compatibility with iPhone OS 3.0. I don’t know about the visual improvements, but it looks stable on both my iPod touch and iPhone. And, it seems reasonably fast. This version of NYTimes is staying on my iPhone.
