I think it would be fun to start a bet here in Rotorblog. What are we betting for? – whether Apple will approve Opera’s application for its Opera Mini 5 browser made specifically for the iPhone. I mean, if you were Apple, will you approve the Opera Mini 5 knowing pretty well that it would easily beat your own mobile web browser?

Even worst is the fact that the early reviews of Opera Mini 5 for iPhone praised the sheer browsing speed, powering through web pages in up to six times faster than Apple’s own web browser – the Safari. Of course, you also know that Opera makes this possible due to its server-side rendering, data compression up to 90% – hence resulting in rapid rage loading and more.

Jon von Tetzchner, Co-founder, Opera Software said that:

“Opera has put every effort into creating a customized, stylized, feature-rich and highly responsive browser that masterfully combines iPhone capabilities with Opera’s renowned Web experience, and the result is a high performing browser for the iPhone.”

So are you getting this app and replace your iPhone’s default mobile web browser? Or wait, do you think Apple would approve the Opera Mini 5 for the iPhone?

Here’s a preview of the Opera Mini 5 running on the iPhone.
