Orange Pulls An Old Spice With Singing Tweetagrams

Just when the chatter about Old Spice’s response campaign finally started to die down, Orange has jumped onto the Twitter scene with a new interactive social media campaign. Orange is responding to fans with a musical take on the Old Spice campaign – having their own a capella group, the Rockabellas, sing Tweets marked with the hashtag #singingtweetagrams. Will the Rockabellas give Old Spice a run for their money? You be the judge.

Orange UK announced the Singing Tweetagrams campaign on their blog, The Feed, this morning. They write, “Got a friend who needs cheering up? Or maybe you just want to tell them that you love them/miss them/really like their new haircut..Well, why not say it with a singing tweetagram!” Twitter users are invited to tweet messages with #singingtweetagrams. The best ones will be made into songs by the Rockabellas. Apparently this process should take “a few hours”, and Orange will update users when their songs are made into tweets to that they can visit the feed blog to hear them and send them to their friends.

So far the Rockabellas haven’t sung anyone’s tweets, and on the Orange The Feed Twitter account they have been replying to tweeps all day to let them know that they will let them know within the next 48 hours about whether or not their tweets will be recorded, so it might be a couple of days before we hear any Twitter music from the Rockabellas. In fact, according to the video at the end of this post, all the recorded tweets won’t appear on The Feed site until October 8, so only time will tell.

You can check out Orange’s YouTube video about the campaign below, or send out a tweet that you’d like to hear the Rockabellas sing. Just remember to tag it with #singingtweetagrams. I have a feeling that Orange’s campaign will be a success, though probably not as big as the Old Spice campaign, as Orange is a European company and a lot of the Old Spice attention came from the United States. What do you think of the Orange campaign? Will you try to get the Rockabellas to sing for you?
