Orb Streams Live Events to iPhones

Streaming media service provider Orb Networks has come out with a new application that lets content owners broadcast their programming live on the iPhone. Dubbed, appropriately enough, Orb Live Events, the app delivers live streaming over 3G, Wi-Fi and EDGE networks and can be customized to integrate into the broadcaster’s overall event marketing plan.

Apple has given Orb Live Events its seal of approval, removing the hurdle of application approval from the broadcaster. According to Orb, a content provider can get up and running with the solution in about 24 hours.

iPhone or iPod touch owners who download the Orb Live Events application will see a list of available upcoming live shows. Additionally, Orb will create proprietary iPhone apps for content owners wanting to offer their own branded Live Events application.
