Global online travel company Orbitz has designed a slick Flash Website to help travelers locate beach resorts around the world that fit their every need. Welcome to My Ideal Beach.
Asking vacationers three simple questions, the engine will pick yield personalized beach resort results from a field of over 450 (all hand selected by the Orbitz team).
1) You identify who is traveling. Friends? Couple? Family?
2) Choose the types of activities you’re hoping to enjoy; From shopping and gambling to dining and water sports.
3) Identify your the type of beach you prefer. Gay-friendly? Private? Adults only? You also can choose if you prefer something domestic or international. Currently, all beaches are in the U.S., Caribbean, Mexico and South America.
Upon completing these three questions, your beach resort results will show how many stars the establishment has received, the average overnight rate and why it’s a good match based on your choices. The final result will even tell you which – if any – of your chosen criteria are not met. Sweet.
The search is intuitive and so foolproof that I’m confident that even my parents can navigate these waters.
There’s a seamless transition to secure a room via the Orbitz booking engine; which of course, at the end of the day, is what this is all about. Your results can be e-mailed to a friend as well.
After checking out My Ideal Beach, I’ve discovered that I am in desperate need of a vacation.
