You can now pay for all your favorite products on Overstock.com using Bitcoins! As the first major retailer to accept Bitcoins, Overstock.com is expanding the possibilities of Bitcoin purchases by offering thousands of products to the Bitcoin community.

Overstock is partnering with San Francisco startup, Coinbase, to make the company the largest online retailer to accept the digital currency.  The company’s CEO, Patrick Byrne, is a noted Libertarian, and has been rushing to prepare the new payment system since late last year, when he made several statements about the company’s plan to be the largest retailer accepting with Bitcoins. Overstock’s revenue in 2012 was $1 billion, and its stock jumped 7.77% the day Byrne announced the company’s intentions to accept the alternative currency.

You want money to be based on something that no government mandarin can wish into existence with the stroke of a pen.  -Patrick Byrne, Overstock.com CEO

Other notable online retailers who accept Bitcoins are OkCupid, Namecheap, and Humble Bundle.
