LinkedIn released data today on which resume buzzwords are most overused in which country. Can you match these popular buzzwords to their country of origin?
- Analytical
- Creative
- Motivated
- Multinational
- Experimental
- Effective
- United States
- India
- UK, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, U.A.E.,
- Switzerland
- Brazil
- Egypt, Indonesia
Answers: U.S.: creative; India: effective; UK, Saudi Arabia et al: motivated; Switzerland: analytical; Brazil: experimental; and Egypt and Indonesia are multinational.
According to LinkedIn, if it’s obvious that being the opposite of the term you’re listing is bad, you shouldn’t use the word. By that reasoning, motivated and effective should never be used.
Do you think the buzzwords describe skills people in the corresponding countries actually have, or do they represent overcompensation?
