Ownshelf is Like Dropbox For eBooks

Sharing good books with your friends is one of the best parts of reading. To help facilitate eBook sharing of public domain and non-copyrighted titles, Ownshelf has launched a service that works like Dropbox for eBooks. It’s also got Facebook sharing features to make it that much easier to share good reads.

To use Ownshelf, you can upload your DRM-free eBooks to your account and create a bookshelf that you can share with your friends. Your friends can browse your shelves and vice versa to look for books. Once you find one you like, you can download their copy. We only recommend using this for public domain books and books in which the authors encourage sharing.

The rules are clear:

Ebooks and other content in the Services may be protected by intellectual property rights of others. Please do not copy, upload, download, or share files unless you have the right to do so. You, not OwnShelf, will be fully responsible and liable for what you copy, share, upload, download or otherwise use while using the Services. You must not upload spyware or any other malicious software to the Service.

Ownshelf is also a good place to look for free eBooks. The tool features hundreds of free eBooks which are curated into Featured Shelves by content or author. This includes titles from Seth Godin, Cory Doctorow, Ayn Rand, Mark Cuban, MC Lars, Donna McDonald, and Paulo Coelho.
