Panasonic VIERA Connect-Enabled HDTV Sets to Include App from AccuWeather.com

The 2011 line of VIERA Connect-enabled HDTV sets from Panasonic, which will debut this spring, will enable viewers who want to tear themselves away from the television and head outside to get a read on the weather, thanks to a pre-loaded application from AccuWeather.com.

The app features local forecasts in more than 30 languages; detailed hourly forecasts for the next six hours; comprehensive forecasts for the next 11 days; weather maps with Doppler radar, current and forecast conditions, and satellite images; broadcast-quality city, regional, national, and international forecast and severe weather videos; warnings for severe and disruptive weather threats; and lifestyle weather and health forecasts.

AccuWeather vice president of interactive media Pascal Racheneur said:

We’re very excited about our partnership with Panasonic and their VIERA Connect platform. The preloaded AccuWeather.com application is animated and fun to use, and makes it possible for users to check for accurate and localized weather forecasts for their current location or for any location on Earth — all from the convenience of their Panasonic VIERA HDTV.
