Penguin‘s new app based on Frederick Warne‘s Spot character, called Spot Goes to School by Eric Hill, is the top paid iPad app in the UK.

This news comes as eBook prices are dropping like crazy in the UK. Earlier this week, WH Smith dropped their prices after Amazon began selling eBooks for very cheap. The new Penguin kids book app costs 2.99 pounds.

The Book Seller
reports: “Publisher Penguin confirmed that it worked with Apple during the creation of the app, Spot Goes to School by Eric Hill. Penguin Digital m.d. Anna Rafferty said: ‘We already have a good relationship with Apple here and in the US and they talked to us about what they wanted to see in the app, including high production values and a meaningful experience.’”
