Pinch Lets You Use an App Across Multiple Displays: Video

As any mobile device user can tell you, one screen is never enough, and that goes double when it is a small screen. That’s why I am please to show you the latest project from a research group at the Tokyo University of Technology. They’ve developed a way to use 2 or more screens as a single display. They’re calling it Pinch, and they’ve named it based on the gesture used to connect the screens on the 2 devices.

Here’s more about how it works:

When the user places a thumb and index finger on two adjacent screens and pinches, the screens link up. The screens can be lined up freely, whether vertical or horizontal, and the pictures can be matched up if they’re misaligned.

The connected devices share each other’s position and screen size via Wi-Fi. With this system, it’s even possible to connect devices with different-sized screens, such as iPhones and iPads.
