Pinterest, Copia, and Cheddar Bay Biscuits – Social Media for Books [Podcast]

Today on mediabistro’s Morning Media Menu podcast, GalleyCat editor Jason Boog shared with me his take on how social media is changing the landscape of the publishing industry. What do gardening manuals have in common with the Red Lobster seafood chain? Listen to the podcast to find out.

The Digital Book World conference this week provided amazing insights on how authors and their publishers can build reading communities and promote their books.  Walking around the convention hall, I got to pick up and hold some tools in my hand that I had previously only read about online. Boog and I  gave a recap of several social resources for media professionals, including Pinterest and Copia.

But marketing is only part of the story. Boog also had some great commentary on whether reading should really be a social experience and what he thought the future held for reading eBooks.  Would you want to talk about books with your friends on your eReader or do like to read alone?
